Construction of a memory: an “emotional filler”
is required for a TV documentation about the collapse of the
socialist system in East Germany in 1989. Before filming starts,
a motivation trainer sets to work on getting the actor into
the mood for his role. To this end he gives an account of
the events in Leipzig leading up to the collapse of the GDR,
in a mixture of iconographic moments and less well-known details.
The “tears of the eyewitness” flow on command.
But why, exactly, is he crying?
