On the occasion of a superior’s birthday, a high-ranking Stasi official – responsible for the surveillance of the Church – has dressed up as a Catholic bishop. At the informal gathering, he gives a kind of sermon to entertain the guests.

Lower-ranking Stasi officials line up ready to offer their congratulations. In honour of the occasion they have also dressed up as their adversaries, i.e. the groups they are responsible for observing – prima ballerina, sportsman, professor, civil rights campaigner, doctor, punk, etc.
